Join Jefferson State Community College, in partnership with the Cahaba River Society, as students, employees, and community members canoe the Cahaba and do our part to Clean Home Alabama! We will learn facts about the Little Cahaba and its importance to our area and exit the canoes to gather trash from the river. The trip will start at 9:00 a.m. on the Little Cahaba River in Shelby County, near 3980 Cahaba Beach Road – this is a dirt road off Hwy 280 near the intersection with Valleydale Road. The Little Cahaba cleanup will end at 12:00 p.m. on Hwy 280.
Biodiversity found in the Cahaba River is recognized worldwide as exceptional, therefore this river is a treasure well worth stewardship efforts!
